Privacy Policy.
How Skylarks apps handle your data. The short version: your content stays on your device, and we never sell your data.
01Who we are
Skylarks (skylarks.io) is the independent app studio of Przemek Skowronek, based in Poland, in the European Union. Skylarks is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
This policy applies to every app Skylarks publishes on the App Store, currently Fadeless, Lumen, SMUDGE, VOID, Stride and Pizzapp, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and to the skylarks.io website. Not every app uses every feature described here. Which apps use what shows what applies to each app.
Questions about privacy: contact@skylarks.io.
02The short version
- Your photos, videos, health data, recipes, game progress and other content stay on your device. We never upload them, and we cannot see them.
- Our apps do not need an account. We do not ask for your name, and we never see your Apple Account or payment details.
- We collect anonymous usage events to understand which features people use and to fix problems. They are not linked to your identity.
- Apps with a free, ad-supported version show ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, ads are personalised only if you agree.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we never use your content to train AI models.
03Data that stays on your device
Most of what our apps do happens on your device, using Apple frameworks and models that run locally. This data is not sent to Skylarks or to anyone else:
- Photos and videos. Restoring, blurring, analysing, sorting and deleting photos and videos all run on your device. Results are saved to your photo library or kept in the app's private storage, only when you choose.
- Faces. Some apps detect faces with Apple's Vision framework, to restore them or to cover them. Face detection is used only to process the image you chose. We never create or store biometric templates, and we never identify people.
- Photo metadata. An app that organises your library, such as VOID, may read information stored with your photos, such as the date, size and the place where a photo was taken, to group and display them on your device.
- Camera. When an app offers scanning, such as scanning a printed photo in Fadeless, the camera is used only while you scan.
- Health data. Stride can read your heart rate and save finished workouts to Apple Health, with your permission. Health data stays in Apple Health on your devices. We never receive it, and it is never used for advertising.
- Your content and settings. Restorations, galleries, presets, recipes, bake plans, game progress, streaks, statistics and preferences are stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Apple Watch, widgets, Live Activities and Siri. Data shared with your Apple Watch, widgets, Live Activities and shortcuts moves directly between your own devices and system features.
- Downloaded models. Some apps download machine-learning models from Apple's servers after installation. These downloads contain no information about you or your content.
04Permissions
Our apps ask for access to device features only when a feature needs them, and you can change your choice at any time in the Settings app.
- Photos: to pick, analyse, save or delete photos and videos. Where possible, apps use Apple's photo picker, which shares only the items you select, or "Add Photos Only" access, which only lets the app save.
- Camera: to scan printed photos.
- Health: to read heart rate during workouts and to save workouts.
- Notifications: for reminders you set up, such as workout reminders or bake plan steps.
- Tracking (App Tracking Transparency): asked only in apps that show ads, before the advertising identifier can be used.
05Data we collect
Anonymous usage analytics
Our apps send anonymous usage events to Mixpanel, our analytics provider, which stores our data in the European Union. Events describe how the app is used, for example that a screen was opened, a feature was used, a photo was saved or a purchase was started or completed. Events can include the app version, device model, operating system version, language and an approximate country or region estimated from your IP address.
Events are tied to a random identifier created by the app, not to your name, email address or Apple Account. They never include your photos, videos, faces, file names, health data, recipes or other content. We use analytics to understand which features are useful, to find problems and to improve our apps, never for advertising. Analytics is turned off in development and test builds.
Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details or your Apple Account details. Some apps use RevenueCat to check purchases and to restore them on your devices. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, your purchase history for that app, your App Store country and basic device information. It does not receive your name or payment details.
Apple Ads attribution
If you install one of our apps after tapping an Apple Ads placement, the app may ask Apple's AdServices framework whether the install came from a campaign. Apple returns only campaign-level information, such as the campaign, ad group and keyword. We record it in our analytics and with RevenueCat to measure our advertising. This does not identify you and does not use the advertising identifier.
Advertising
Apps with a free, ad-supported version, currently Lumen and Stride, show ads from Google AdMob. To show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect your IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, approximate location and, only if you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message before personalised ads are used. On iPhone and iPad, the advertising identifier is used only if you allow it in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they are not personalised. Buying the paid version or a Remove Ads purchase turns ads off. Google's use of data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Game Center
Online duels and leaderboards, such as in Lumen, run on Apple Game Center. When you play online, your Game Center display name, your moves and your turn status are shared with your opponent through Apple's servers, and leaderboard scores are submitted to Game Center. Apple's privacy policy applies to Game Center.
Support emails
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach or include, such as your device model and app version. We use it only to help you. Please do not send private photos or videos unless you are comfortable sharing them.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and diagnostics. You can turn this off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Our website
The skylarks.io website is hosted by Squarespace. When you visit it, Squarespace processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages you view, and may set essential cookies to run the site and analytics cookies to count visits. Squarespace's practices are described in its privacy policy.

08Why we process data
Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the app, unlock and restore your purchases and answer your support requests.
- Legitimate interests: to understand how our apps are used, fix problems, keep our services secure and measure our own advertising. We keep this data anonymous and minimal so it does not override your rights.
- Consent: for personalised ads, tracking, notifications and access to Photos, Camera and Health. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app or in the Settings app.
- Legal obligation: to keep records we are required to keep by law.
09Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run our apps, and only for the purposes described above:
- Apple: App Store, purchases, Game Center, Apple Health, Apple Ads attribution, model downloads and crash reports.
- Mixpanel: anonymous usage analytics, stored in the European Union.
- RevenueCat: purchase checks and restores.
- Google: ads through AdMob in ad-supported apps, and email through Google Workspace.
- Squarespace: hosting of the skylarks.io website.
10International transfers
Some of our providers are based in, or process data in, the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. When data leaves the EEA or the UK, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11How long we keep data
- On-device data stays until you delete it or delete the app.
- Analytics events are kept only for as long as they help us improve our apps, and are then deleted.
- Purchase records are kept for as long as you have an active purchase or subscription, and afterwards for as long as the law requires.
- Support emails are kept for as long as we need them to help you and for our records, and are then deleted.
12Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we do not know who you are, we may ask for details that help us find your data, such as the email address you wrote from. To use these rights, email contact@skylarks.io. We will reply within one month.
If you live in the EU, you can also complain to a data protection authority. In Poland, this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). You can also contact the authority where you live.
California residents. Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. Ads in ad-supported apps may count as sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out by declining tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt or in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
13Children
Our apps are made for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
14Security
We protect data by collecting as little as possible, by processing your content on your device and by using encrypted connections for the data we do send. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect the data we handle.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our apps or the law change. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for important changes we will also tell you in the app or on our website.
